This might be an interesting project for the group/s to consider for the Principles of Sound and Video Production unit?

About the project:
“We want you to devise and film an ad that conveys the intense brilliance of Blu-Tack®; an ad that wlll go down in the annals of advertising as ‘really not at all bad’.

The winning ad will appear in Blu-Tack’s® 2010 campaign and the winner will receive £2,000-worth of computer equipment/software of their choice, with five runner-up prizes of £200-worth of computer equipment or software. We’ll show some of the best entries on the Blu-Tack® website.”

Tilt Shift Video September 27, 2009

This might make an interesting theme for viral video. This idea of tilt shift video comes from a photographic technique with 5×4 cameras where you can alter the depth of field by changing the angle of the back plate. There are various techniques to achieve this result with video. here are some examples:

Bob Dylan Viral Video campaign from 2007. Click on the image above to view.

Here is another example Jonathan Joly sent me to by CNN to encourage people to vote in the US elections.

Here is the latest video from Improv Everywhere - the ‘Human Mirror’ yet again another great idea for a performance piece using the web and in particular youtube to spread the message virally.

This probably their most famous video. T-Mobile used the idea for their own TV AD campaign.

This was one of the first viral videos that suddenly made companies realise the power of youtube.

For all location shoots it is essential that you fill out a risk assessment form and consider carefully all hazards both to the actors and crew but also the general public. The latest version of the AUCB risk assessment document for location shooting as used by the Film course will be available soon.

“Filmmakers wishing to shoot in London should read their short publication, Location Filming in London Code of Practice, from which the following is an extract.”

The iPhone comes into it’s own. November 13, 2008

The new iPhone has been causing a stir for a while now but here are a few new applications that show how our conceptions of interactivity and human computer interaction are going to be seriously challenged in the next few months.

Brian Eno & Peter Chilvers Bloom
This is a really beautiful simple interface for creating minimalist sequenced music.

iPhone - Google Earth application
This technology was first shown on Jeff Han’s Multitouch Screen a couple of years ago but now it is a reality.

iHologram - iPhone application
“The application works by assuming a constant viewing angle (35-45 degrees), typical for when the device is placed on a tabletop.

The 3d scene’s perspective is then warped using anamorphic perspective, making the object appear to jump off the screen.”

iPhone Guitar 1
This is such a good idea.

iPhone Guitar 2
